Brussels

Hi!

After long weeks through my journey across Sri Lanka, I will return to the stories from the European countries. To be precise- today I will share with you my story and experience from Brussels. Why I decided to raise this topic? Because of  parlamentary election of course!
It was my first time in Brussels and I will tell you everything in two blog posts. The first one will handle more about the European Union and the European district in Brussels. It is situated a little bit outside the center. Unfortunately, I was there on Friday midday and the Parliament was closed but weekdays you can visit it and have a look how the European Union is working. Generally, this district is completely different to the city center of Brussels because it is very modern, the buildings are innovative. It was very interesting to see it live and not only in television. :)
I can totally admit that Brussels is an obligatory point to see if you are european! I want to go there once again to visit all the buildings of European Parliament. You should also go there once!
By the way, what do you think about elections? ;)
See you next time when I tell you about other attractions in Brussels.

Tsunami

Hello everyone,

For the last time I want to tell you another story about Sri Lanka and my trip there. This time the topic will be the tsunami from the year 2004. On our adventure through Sri lanka we went to the Yala National Park. The park is situated on the south east cost so it is directly at the ocean. In the morning on 26th of December 2004 there was an earthquake in the ocean near Indonesia but unfortunately this earthquake produced a huge wave which went through the ocean and hit every country and coast around. What really impressed us, was the history our guide told us: on the day of tsunami people who visited the park saw that all animals went away from the coast in direction to the inner country. It was really suspicious because animals that always hunt each other, went together nearly side by side away. People at that time didn't know what was going on or didn't realise what it meant. But as we know today, the animals back then felt that something horrible was happening and tried to escape. Unfortunately, the tsunami hit Sri Lanka and especially the Yala Park very bad and people who visited the park that day died and a lot of people around the Sri Lanka also. There are a lot of stories from that day and of course a lot of them are sad but there where also a few lucky stories. But the history of the animals from the Yala Park impressed me the most.

Galle

Hello guys, My today's topic is still related to my adventures in Sri Lanka. This time I will take you to Galle- an old city at the south of Sri Lanka. Galle was founded by the Portuguese people and later, was under Dutch colony. And this gives Galle its special look: colonial architecture combined with native traditions. You can fall in love looking at its old small city centre, just like old Dutch towns in Netherlands. Something completely different than other cities we saw before. What is more, Galle is situated directly at the ocean so from the restaurants and cafes at the city, you have an amazing view over the ocean. Believe me or not, it is beautiful and very romantic! Unfortunately at the day we were in Galle it was unbelievable hot (about 38 degrees) and it was quite exhausting to tour around the city but it was really worth it and it is definitely necessary place to see when you are in Sri Lanka.
Near to Galle, you can also see stilt fishing, which is the most famous and interesting traditional fishing method of Sri Lanka. The fishermen are sitting on the bamboo pales and they pretend to fish. Why I say pretend? Because currently, there are few of them who do it professionally. More of them live with tips from tourists. Have a look at this beautiful pictures I made in Galle. See you next time with another story of my traveling around Sri Lanka. Greetings!

Ella Gap

Hello everyone!

After my last blog with very sad news, I want to continue my story about amazing adventures around beautiful Sri Lanka. Today I will try to show you how varied Sri Lanka is. As you already know, this country is famous for tea plantations. That is why you should not be suprised that another city I visited, was surrounded by hills covered by cloud forests and tea plantations. I went to Ella- the city which has a cooler climate due to its elevation. I didn't expect that after few hottest days, I had to wear warm clothes. To be honest- it fascinated me even more. Driving from Ella to another city, we passed the famous Ella Gap. I can totally admit that those views across the southern plains of Sri Lanka delighted me a lot. What is more, on the same day we saw Ravana Falls- one of the widest falls in Sri Lanka. It is really popular sightseeing attraction there so if you want a photo without any people, you can foget about it immediately! :)
The nature in this country is just unbelievable. I am totally sure that if you have a trip there, you will fall in love!
Stay tuned for another post!

Terrorist attacks

Hello!

Unfortunatelly, this time I won't write  about my fascinating journey across Sri Lanka. As you might heard, there were terrorists attacks in Sri Lanka. Almost 350 people died and many was hurt. The bombs exploded in 8 different places. The biggest attacks took place in three hotels in the centre of Colombo and in churches. I must admit that for me it was really shocking to hear that news and see those terrible pictures. Even more because it is just weeks ago that I have been in Kingsbury hotel which also was attacked. What is more, I just can't understand how is it possible because during my journey across Sri Lanka I met a lof of good, friendly and pleasant people. Tourism in this country lately has grown after a long War until 2009 so those attacks are very bad news. Two days after the attacks Colombo looked like a ghost town. From 8pm to 4am there was a curfew so the streets were empty. Nobody left their hme or hotel. I hope that it won't take a long time to rebuild this level of tourism but I am afraid, to be honest, that it is not so easy beacuse some people obviously started to be scared of travelling to this country.
And what do you think? Anyone of you could dare to go there now?
See you soon!

Ceylon tea

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to my blog and to the next part of my story about the journey across Sri Lanka. After the first exciting days, arrinved the next one wich was about famous Sri Lanka's tea and Ayurveda cosmetics. In the morning we went to Ayurveda garden where a lot of various plants were. Every plant was used to create Ayurveda's cosmetics. Something like oils cremes and other cosmetics. It was awesome to see everything and the staff explained it really good. Of course, I bought some cremes and oils and hope that they will do their job ☺️.
The next part of the day was all about tea. Sri Lanka is famous for its Ceylon tea. And as you can know, Sri Lanka was called Ceylon in the past. We went to Nuwara Elija and the famous tea hills. Everywhere where tea and finally we arrived to the tea production plant. They showed us the differences between green tea and black tea and all the various types of tea. The biggest suprise for me was that the black tea, green tea or white tea is is made from the same leaves. I also saw the famous plantation in Sri Lanka (Yes, it is really impressive!). I learned a lot there and enjoyed the time. It was another, different and exciting part of Sri Lanka. I hope you enjoyed it and stay tuned for the next part of my story.
See you soon
Bye
