Another day in Asia

Hi!
Today I will continue my adventure in Sri Lanka. On the next day we went to rafting. In each boat were 6 people. Two in the front, two in the middle and two in the back. There was also a coach in the centre back who told us what we had to do and how we had to paddle. It wasn't so easy as you might think. The river was very wild and fast and the boat wasn't so stable. But obviously, it was really fun and everybody enjoyed it.
After the rafting, our next part of the day was totally different. We went to the holiest place for the Buddhists- Kandy. Kandy is the home of the Temple of The Tooth Relic, one of the most sacred Buddhist's places. The history tells that that tooth belonged to Gautama Buddha and who owns ths tooth, has a lead of Sri Lanka. For a long time, Kandy was also a capital of the country due to the temple and its relict.
That day showed me the variety which Sri Lanka can offer- an impressive nature and fascinating monuments. But of course it wasn't the end of my journey so stay tuned to the next episode!

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

Hello again!
Let's continue an Asian trip. The goal for next day was Pinnawella Elephant Orphanage- the place where the famous elephant's baths take place. Our day started very early. We had wake up call at 5 o'clock and breakfest at 6 am. We were travelling in a group so we always arrived everywhere by bus. Another day was also very hot and the high humidity. I was feeling like in the middle of summer! (And it was february- unbelievable!) The orphanage was established to fish, nurse and house young elephants founds abandoned by their mothers. There is the largest herd of captive elephants in the world. It was amazing to see wild elephants washing in the river or simply touch them. Another astonishing thing that we could see, was a shop with paper calendars, notebooks and other stuff made from the elephant's poo. And trust me, it doesn't smell so bad as you might think!
After Pinnawella, we went on Safari. That day was fully packed with wild animals, especially elephants. We were riding on jeep without roof around the park. We saw elephant families but also colorful birds and another animals. I can really recommend you it, for me it was amazing experience.
Stay tuned!

Sigiriya

Hello everybody and welcome back!
This time I will continue my story about Asian trip around Sri Lanka. After an exhausting flight and exciting first day in Colombo, me and my group started to explore this amazing island and its beautiful nature. The first stop was Sigiriya - an ancient rock fortress located in the centre of Sri Lanka. Today, Sigiriya is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site and it is also declared by UNESCO as the eighth wonder of the world. This monument of nature became a special one thanks to his history. Namely, it was a park and a rock of the former king of Sri Lanka.
During our trip, we climbed up this rock. We started in the early morning and even it was only 7 am, the weather wasn't favourable to us. On the one hand, the climbing was very exhausting but on the other hand, the view from the mountain was unbelievable. Everywhere we could see the jungle and the wild animals (like for example wild monkeys). I must admit that it was one of the highlights from the journey.
After a short break, we went to the next stop of our trip. What it was and how much I enjoyed it, I will tell you next time.

See you soon and I hope you like my photos!

Hello Asia

Hello everybody and welcome back to my blog. In my next blog posts I will share with you my experience after wonderful journey. As you might know, I have never travelled  far away, so this time I decided to organise a trip to Asia. For my longer trip I chose Sri Lanka, the country near to India. I heard many fantastic opinions about that country and read many blogs or watched videos and fotos. That is why I decided to go there for an almost two weeks journey. We had seven days of traveling and exploring around the country and 6 days of chilling and just relaxing. Unfortunatelly, before I reached there, there was a flight. The journey took 11 hours! I have never been flying by plane for so long and it  was a little bit exhausting, to be honest. But, it was worth it. :)
After 11 hours of flight from the frosty Poland I landed at 5am in the morning in Colombo- the biggest city of Sri Lanka. It was really hot there and also was high humidity (even at 5am in the morning). After this long flight I went  to the hotel to take a nap. Later, I was visiting Colombo and it impressed me a lot. Everything is different to our cities in Europe. There was very loudly, fastly and there was a lot of different districts. In the harbour district there are a lot of markets and poor people and in the garden district there are great parks villas and very luxurious places. But also there are new skyscrapers in the town and, of course, a lot of holy Buddha places. I went to the most famous one, called Seema Malaka. It is very interesting to learn and see something different to our culture and religion.
Obviously, I will tell you much more about my adventures in this country in my next posts. I hope you will enjoy it! Have a nice evening! :)
