Christmas markets in Germany

It´s Christmas time !
For me and many people it is the most beautiful time of the year.  Everywhere you can see beautiful, shining lights, christmas trees and of course christmas markets. Today i will tell you about christmas markets in Germany. Everyone of you surely know the most famous christmas markets in Berlin or Dresden. But do you know the Christkindlemarket in Nuremberg ? With almost 2 million visitors per year is one of the biggest christmas market in Germany. It starts every year on friday before the first sunday of advent and ends at the 24th of december.
Even if historics try to find out when took place the first market, they are not sure about it. There are many stories that it was between 1610 and 1639. But the first official list from the market is from 1737. The market is every year at the same place- at the main square in Nuremberg called "Hauptmarkt". Typical for the christkindlemarket are the red-white striped roofs of the shacks. There are about 180 wooden shacks every year.
In the center of the market you can see a christmas crib where the christmas stories are relating. And of course there are typical drinks and snacks which you can get at a german "Weihnachtsmarkt". For example: "Glühwein" (Mulled wine) or "bratwurst" the famous german grilled sausage. But also a lot of sweets such as fruits in chocolate or hot chocolate to drink. For everybody who has never been on a christmas market in Germany this one can be also interesting.  It´s cosy and you get that magical christmas atmosphere there.
Have you ever been there? And which ones do you recommend me to visit?
So have fun there and Merry Christmas everyone!
