Czech cuisine

This time I will tell you about some typical czech dishes. Because after skiing you need of course some food and drinks. And in my opinion, in Czech Republic they have really good cuisine and all fo plates I tried were very delicious. Some people going on holidays always decide to cook at their apartment and the other ones would rather try regional food. I am definitely a person who belongs to the second group. That's why I went to various restaurants and bars and I tried the local food and drinks. For example: the czech dumplings with goulash called knedliki. It was really delectable. Another tasty dish is of course fried cheese served with tartar souce. If you go there, you should also try garlic soup with croutons. And obviously, drink the famous czech beer. I especially liked the dark one. It's a little bit sweeter than a normal beer. So if you want to try some really good local food and drinks, I can recommend you that place. I didn't manage to try all those tasty things so it is an extra reason to come back there as soon as possible. But the next holidays are already in the planning and I will tell you about it next time.

I hope you enjoyed my post again!

Skiing lover

Hello again!
I hope you had an awesome start into the New Year 2019. Today I will continue my Travel Diary and this time I will take you to the Winter Wonderland of Czech Republic. I went there for a four day trip to Harrachov and Splinderuv mlyn for skiing. I love winter, snow and skiing, to be perfectly honest. I do it for almost 20 years! It was quite an anniversary for me this year. At the first day after arrive I went skiing at night. it is always other atmosphere when you go skiing at night. In Harrachov there was one track for night skiing opened from 4pm to 8pm. It was outstanding. The track was just close to the ski jumping hill. Did you know that Harrachov is one of only six cities in the world that has a ski flying hill?  Even there wasn´t any competition for many years, it is very impressive how big this hill is. And when it´s getting dark the ski flying hill is under lights and looks like it stands at the top of Harrachov. It's great to see. Another day I went skiing for almost the whole day on all other tracks in Harrachov. The longest one is 2200m long and it is very wild and goes trough the forest. The weather wasn´t so good that day and it was raining a lot but even in these conditions it was a great fun.
During last day I was in Splinderuv mlyn because I heard a lot about this place and its skiing tracks. And it was really impressive. Unoftunately, some tracks were closed because of ice but the opened ones were  very long and also had varoius levels of difficulty. I really recommend this place and I will return there for sure to check the other tracks.

Still in Christmas mood

Hi!
Even if it's after Christmas I would like to tell you something about my trip to German's Markets. I want to write about it because I am still in Christmas you. This time I will take you on a journey to the Christmas Markets in Cologne and Duesseldorf. Between these two cities there is a long history. And until now the people of these cities don’t like each other very much. At first, we start with the Christmas Market in Duesseldorf. Or better say the Christmas Markets because there are a lot of them in the city centre. The 3 biggest ones take place at the Jan-Wellem-Square, the Rathaus-Square and the “Sternchenmarkt”. At the Jan-Wellem-Square there is special that every wooden hut is white. In front of the new buildings “Kö-Bogen” this Market looks more modern. The second Market is the “Sternchenmarkt”. This one is divided in two markets. It’s probably the most classic. The third Market is on the “Rathaus-Square”. It is very classic and there is a scene for live music and concerts. As on every German Christmas market there is mulled wine called gluhwein or German sausages called bratwurst.

The next day I spent in Cologne. In Cologne there is one big and famous Christmas market in front of the cathedral. It’s very cozy and warm. As in Duesseldorf there is also a scene for music and concerts. And there are a lot of huts with souvenirs and articles for home decoration. As I said earlier these two cities don’t like each other. Everything goes back in history with fights about territories. And until now a lot of traditions for example different beers make that this rivalry keep alive. In Duesseldorf you get the dark beer called “Alt” in cologne it is completely different because it’s very clear and it’s called “Kolsch”. But in the end both cities are worth to see. Especially in the Christmas time when everywhere are Christmas markets and there is this special smell from sausages and wine and Christmas sweets.

And what about you? Are you still in Christmas mood or maybe you are already planning your summer holidays?
Have a nice day!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!
Where did you spend your New Year’s Eve? Did you go abroad or maybe just stayed at home? I decided to go to Wroclaw. In Wroclaw you have many options to spend New Year’s Eve. For example: at the Old Market Square (Rynek). This year there was a big Scene and a lot of famous singers like Village Boys (YMCA). But, me and my friends bought tickets for an organised party. It was in a big concert hall with about 500 guests. On the scene played a polish band. They sang various types of music. Polish and international classics. Everyone was dancing and spending really good time. Also famous for these type of parties is good polish food. At the beginning there was tomato soup. Later, I had roast beef and potatoes and various salads. After the first dance we could taste cold snacks like cheese, ham and sausages. Of course all the time there was polish wodka to drink. On midnight everyone went out of the hall and shot some fireworks and cheered with champagne. After that, the party continued on the fullest. Next to me were sitting a few persons from Switzerland so I had an opportunity to improve my English! :) All in all it was a great evening, a superb party and the perfect way to start into the new year 2019.
I wish you all the best for the New Year and that all your wishes come true.
